Kane’s Story
Kane was born in Consett on the 05/06/90. He entered this world weighing 4lb 6oz. He was a
beautiful baby & was loved by all. When he was growing up he was always thin, this used to worry me
but it was just the way he was.
Kane is the third son of Christina.
Kane has two older brothers Joel and Nick; he also has a younger brother Matthew and a little sister
Lynnette.
Kane did not have an easy life. He worried about his little brother as he has a severe heart
condition. He worried about anyone when they were ill or sad.
He had to work hard at things and was bullied when he was young.
Kane cared for people; he would make things for them & spend his money on others. He would buy
things for no reason other than to give or make some-one happy.
Kane loved Japanese cartoon art and was always drawing or painting. He was great at drawing
pictures of people. He loved to create things and would make things out of wood or anything else he
could find.
He would try to do anything I asked him whether it was fixing a light or plumbing a shower.
Although not everything he "fixed" worked again. He once spent hours fixing the kitchen heater & it
has never worked since. Another time he replaced all the door handles for me and one is at 45
degrees. He would always try though.
Kane could be very clumsy but it could be so funny. When he was young he was determined to climb
this tree and fell out of the same tree four times but he did it in the end. He once fell down the
stairs and got up and ran into the wall. I have many memories like this and cherish every one of
them.
Kane left this Earth on the 07/03/07. The day before his death he was upset about an email he had
from his ex girlfriend but we talked and he was fine. The day of his death he was going to see
about an apprenticeship he had applied for. He had no money left so I gave him a few pounds & my
last words to him were " I'm not that bad am I?", he smiled his cheeky smile & replied " I’ve got
my keys". He left the house at lunch time. I had to go out & passed him 2 minutes from his
destination, which was the last time I saw my baby alive. When I returned home I had a bad feeling
so I tried to phone him, there was no answer so I kept trying. After a while I went looking for him
and at 10pm I phoned the police.
Two officers came to the house and after a while told me they had found the body of a young lad at
the bottom of the Gill Bridge. I was devastated and still am. They would not let me see him until
2pm the next day. I had to identify his body, his brother Nick was with me. I went in to shock and
never questioned things so when they said he had jumped I did not ask why.
At his funeral some-one told me Kane did not jump or fall. I was in a state & did not take it in.
Later those words came back and I started to question things. And if I could find the name of the
person that told me.
I phoned the police and two CID officers came. I was asked if I was sure I heard right?
Kane was found at the bottom of a 180ft bridge, he had no broken bones, and he had two marks on his
forehead, a bruised nose, a black eye, two bust lips & a bruised right ear. I was told he was found
in a shopping trolley.
Kane was found at 5pm on a bright day and had been there a couple of hours.
How come no-one saw him?
There were a lot of people at Kane's funeral and I did not know them all. Kane had no reason to
jump, he was starting the apprenticeship and wanted to start his own business, he had updated his
bebo the night before and the things he wrote were not the things some-one that was suicidal would
write.
He was also trying to trace his dad and had talked about how much he wanted children when he was
older. Kane had a lot of love to give and was loved. I do not believe my son took his own life and
never will.

for Kane and will never give up.

This site has brought so much comfort to Kane's family & friends. Through GTS I have been contacted
by some of the nicest people that walk this earth, many parents like myself that have lost a child,
others that have also lost some-one they love, some have not lost loved ones but follow Kane's story
& care. Thankyou all for the support you have given us today & for helping get us through xxxxxx

Ben that picture is wonderful, Kane would be so pleased you won the contest. He was very lucky to have such wonderful friends. I know you all still miss him & I am very greatful for your kind words & all the pictures. Kane will always be with us in our hearts. Bless you all.

Kane i miss you soo much, it still hurts when i think of you, knowing that your gone. I know that one day we will meet again...to that day i cannot wait to see your cheeky grin again! I remember all the great times we all had. I wish i just seen you one more time so i could have gave you a real goodbye. But im soo happy that i had the chance to talk to you about my problems and for you to share yours. You will always be in my heart! loads of love, Sophie. x x x
Moments we shall never forget
Ever since i met you at school we became close, we shared most lessons so we got to know each other really well. We went round Kane, Rachel and me. Went swimming from time to time and sometimes the Cinema or alans ford, all these days seem like soo long ago..
Christina, Kane was a great lad, he was always a great laugh and when me and him got together it was like comedy genius. Shame when school ended.. we didnt see each other as much..
Your the closest friend i have had since the move from Scarbough and i shall remember you forever mate

Just like Kane
Lauren that is so like Kane, He told me about the Charlies Angels & what you were going to do, we had a good laugh at it. That was the day he asked me to dye his hair for him, he looked very different with dark hair. I was pleased when it finaly washed out. He was always wanting to try new things. Well.. I remember when Me, Kane, Amber, Rachel, Michael and Rachael did an all nighter in Leadgate... it didnt go quite to plan but it was a really good night! we were all on the blackpath talking, laughing and just tryin to keep our minds off the cold weather! It got to the point at about midnight when we could't bare the coldness any more. So I rang me brother to bring blankets down. We shared them but after a while.. that didnt work either.. so we all went back to my house cause it was the nearest warm place.. even though it was my house.. Kane managed to get the sofa and the blankets with rachel to leave the rest of us on the floor lol.. ill always remember about an hour later... all we heard was Kane saying 'Rachel... Stop snorin man' haha was funny as out!!
Another thing was Kane mentioned one of my pictures on bebo sayin it reminded him of charlie's angels without the third member.. Kane being Kane.. decided he was the third member... a few things he said on the subject was...
'by the way i am not totaly feminine just most lol (i dont have periods not tht i no ov.)'
'mint if you take a pic of me as a girl i so want to look at it if i hate it i throw it if not its beein kept. im an angel the third member so we can all bee gorgeous together again lol'
We were all plannin on gettin Kane drunk to make him charlies third member!! it would have been such an immense night!!

Kane was such a brill mate and always had summit funny up his sleve and was easy to talk to!
I miss him alot .. but i know i will see him again.. :)

Today
Nick & Matthew got new parkeets to day to keep them busy. Matthew has names his Mac & Nick has named his Angle. I know you would have liked the birds & I felt you with me when I was choosing them. I had to laugh at Lynnette as she would have brought home all the fluffies. It seems strange not buying things for you. At Easter I forgot & bought you an egg. anyway got to go for now son but will back soon. love you always mam
Christina, I know no words can help you at this terribly sad time in your life, but from one mum to another , you should be so proud of your son, and take some small measure of comfort from the fact that Kane not only touched peoples hearts when he was here on earth; you only have to read these tributes to see that's true, but he is still touching peoples hearts now. I did not know Kane, but I'm sure he is still with you, being the kind of lad you describe, he wouldn't leave you alone, he'll be watching over you and your family until the time comes for you all to be together again.

a prayer
Tonight I read lynnette a story & said the prayer you used to say with her. Now I lay me down to sleep, I could not say part of it cos it hurt so much. I will have to find another for her son, everything makes me think of you & sometimes the pain is too hard to bare. I love you, sleep well sweet prince, xxx
I am so sorry kanes death was a loss to everyone. I was his best friend at greencroft school from year 7 to 9. We kept in touch when we could but i shouldve been there for him more. I cannot beleive anyone could hurt kane. He would never think bad of anyone. ill continue to leave comments on his bebo page. RIP mate
